Author Biography: Fitzroy Maclean was a Scottish diplomat, soldier, adventurer, politician and writer. During World War II he was posted to Yugoslavia as Churchill's personal representative and Commander of the Mission with Tito's partisans. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre (France), Order of Kutuzov (Russia) and Partisan Star (Yugoslavia). In 1993 he was created a Knight of the Thistle, Scotland's highest chivalric order. Eastern Approaches, the account of his experiences in Russia and Central Asia before the war, has sold more than a million copies in seven languages. His other books include a History of Scotland and a biography of Bonnie Prince Charlie.
